Dear Mr. Sadler,
Although I am happy with the program, the free offer is deceptive. I have on phone recording that my child would be able to complete the Total Transformations program under the direction of his psychiatrist and should do so because of his diagnosis. Unfortunately, Legacy refused to refund my purchase cost because it took 120 days to complete the program under medical supervision as opposed to 90 days stated to complete the survey. It is a shame that Legacy did not honor their commitment especially during these hard economic times when medical expenses are so high.

It can sound very strange to some people to speak about addictions such as pornography or video games vs. alcohol and narcotics. While I have seen firsthand the pain and suffering brought on by the latter I have personally struggled with the first. Like many addicts I'm sure, I did not recognize my addiction initially and even when under conviction of my sins I made excuses.

With pornography it was less of a question of right or wrong, the brokenness I felt after viewing such material could not be avoided, but a constant struggle with self justification. Video games on the other hand had become something that is not spoken enough about today even in the church, an idol. I remember the first thought I had about giving up my video games and my first emotion was fear. I honestly could not think how I could be content without my video games; the fantasy had become my reality. The greatest blessing in moving away from those idols was my two closest friends, Tommy and Jason who made similar choices and my wife. While I would like to say the first step was my last to freedom it was not. That path eventually ended with me facing a holy and righteous God who demanded more of my life and time, not just for Him but also my first ministry, my wife.

Dale, thank you for posting this. Also I like the Diablo picture :) remember ex gamer. :)

What an informative post. Great job reminding us that marriage is "opposed." We don't like to speak about that, but it is so true, not only in our society, but around the world. The Devil hates successful marriage!

Reading more books on children and anxiety can help but a counselor who specializes in this would be priceless. Somehow she has developed these anxious behaviors and feelings and needs to be taught how to deal with things in a different way. She needs to learn to think differently so she can act differently and thus feel differently.

You don't want to make her life anti-stress because as you work to change her environment, you may be contributing to her issue by eliminating what she needs to learn to deal with. A counselor can really help if there's more to it than what can actually be seen. The behaviors may be manifestations of something going on inside her. Or, it could be that she is just wired this way and what is actually a normal disposition for her is going into overload and becoming more of a hinderance than a help.

The good news is that you're trying to do something about it now. The longer she lives this way the more difficult it will be to overcome.

I hope this offers some positive guidance.

This sounds very similar to my daughter. She is seven and I have noticed her anxiety level is getting out of controle. She didn't eat any of her lunch today at school because she spilt the peaches. She was so overwhelmed by something most kids could care less about. Her teacher sais she struggles to stay on task at school, that she has to have all of her "little ducks" in a row befor she can do anything. After reading up on Childrens Anxiety Disorders, I am relating more and more of what I though was just "HER" to being actual "SYMPTOMS" of this. Like her nightmares, bed wetting, cannot have one hair out of place, must get all A's, sais I'm sorry for every little thing, gets embarrased so easily, prays a lot, takes more time then needed to do simple tasks like getting ready for school, I could go on...I want to nip this in the bud, so to speak. I want to make her environment as anti-stess as possible.. I want to be educated on the right and wrong ways to help her with her anxiety. To create an environment where she feels safe and confident enought to tackle these troubles and come out feeling proud not defeated. And mostley I want to give her the tools to deal with this befor it becomes a worsened and life altering problem. Is there anyone out there that has any answers....I am noondaywonder@yahoo.com

This is a great post. I agree, sometimes kids really are just acting out based on the form of parenting they have received. Sometimes, with a few changes in the way parents interact with their child, significant behavioral changes can be made.
